Concentration Levels

According to Wikipedia, “Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.” Everyone will recognize that description quite easily from their own life experiences. Flow is frequently experienced in competitive sports, computer gaming, music performances, and even driving. Occasionally, one can also experience it during concentrated work.

Getting into the flow state is highly desirable because it is associated with peak performance and spontaneous joy, but it can be very hard to enter this state. Essentially, flow depends on having a task that is “just right”: challenging, but within one’s abilities, and with direct and constant feedback.
