Day 1 Tip

Global Keyboard Shortcuts

Vitamin-R defines a number of keyboard combos that you can use from any application.

For additional keyboard shortcuts and customization, check out the Preferences... dialog in the Vitamin-R menu

Starting on macOS 10.15 Catalina, you need to give Vitamin-R permission for “Input Monitoring”. This sounds scary, but Vitamin-R is only registering the global keyboard shortcuts. It’s not a must, but you won’t have global keyboard shortcuts without it.

Vitamin-R will normally ask you for this permission when it first starts up. Accepting will open the System Settings/ Preferences application and open it to the Security & Privacy panel and the Privacy tab. Click the padlock at the bottom to unlock the pane, then add Vitamin-R 3 to the Input Monitoring list. Finally restart the application for the new settings to come into effect.

If for any reason, the dialog box does not come up or you denied permission, you can simply navigate to the pane manually:

Apple ⇒ System Settings/ Preferences ⇒ Security & Privacy ⇒ Privacy

and then proceed as above.
