Installation

The download will open a new disk image.

1. Drag the "A Better Finder Rename" icon onto the "Applications" folder

2. Go to the Applications folder

3. Double click "A Better Finder Rename"

4. Select the components you want to install

You may also install A Better Finder Rename in any other location of your choice. When you move the application from one folder to another, this will break the connection with the context menu and hot key component. Simply double click the application in its new folder once to re-establish the link.

Adding and removing components

You can install and uninstall the components at any time from the "Preferences..." item in the "A Better Finder Rename" menu.

Uninstallation

Run the application

1. select "Preferences" in the "A Better Finder Rename" menu

2. click the "Uninstall" buttons next to the components

3. close the dialog

4. quit A Better Finder Rename

5. drag the application icon to the trash

If you have already trashed the main application, we recommend that you reinstall it and carry out the procedure above. It is the safest and most complete way of getting rid of all the components.

Upgrading from Version 6

Version 7 is a complete rewrite and as such replaces many of the components of earlier versions.

The version 7 installation procedure will upgrade or delete existing version 6 components automatically to avoid problems.

For reference, here are the locations for the version 7 components:

Downgrading to an earlier version

If for any reason you want to go back to an older version of A Better Finder Rename (up to v 6.9.5)

1. uninstall version 7 using the instructions in the "Uninstallation" section.

2. re-run the previous version's installer
