Getting Started
Installation and Finder integration
Installing and uninstalling File Multi Tool, switching on its Finder context menu entry in System Settings, giving it a keyboard shortcut, and the trial limit and unlock code.
Installation
File Multi Tool is installed by dragging its application icon into the Applications
folder. The first launch asks for permission to access your files when you drop them; this is the
normal macOS permission dialog and only needs answering once per folder.
Uninstallation
Drag the application icon into the Bin. Settings live in ~/Library/Preferences and can be left in
place or deleted; nothing else is installed.
The Finder context menu
File Multi Tool registers a macOS service, which puts an File Multi Tool 7…
entry into the Finder’s context menu and makes a keyboard shortcut possible. macOS does not switch
services on by itself, so do this once:
- open
System Settings - go to
Keyboard, then clickKeyboard Shortcuts… - select
Servicesin the left-hand list and open theFiles and Foldersgroup - tick
File Multi Tool 7… - optionally click
nonenext to the entry to record a keyboard shortcut - click
Done
Right-clicking files or folders in the Finder now offers the entry, and the shortcut opens the
selection in File Multi Tool. The Finder Integration item in the Help menu and the
Activate System Service button in Settings bring you back to these instructions.
