File is not writable
Why File Multi Tool reports a file as not writable: permissions, the lock flag and read-only volumes, and how to check and fix each in the Finder's Get Info window.
The program has detected that this file is not writable and its meta-data can thus not be changed.
Check that:
- you have access permissions for the file
- the file does not have its “lock” flag set
- the file is not on a read-only volume (a DVD, a disk image opened read-only, a network share without write access)
You can do this by following the steps below in the Finder:
- go to the Finder
- find the file that shows up as not being writable in the Finder
- select
Get Infofrom theFilemenu - in the sheet that opens:
- check that
Your User Name (Me)hasRead & Writeprivileges in theSharing & Permissionssection. - check that the
Lockedflag in theGeneralsection is not checked
- check that
To unlock many files at once, use the Change the file lock action with Lock file unticked.
