What the icons in the supported column mean
The green check mark, red cross and grey cross in the supported column of the File Multi Tool file list tell you whether the current action can be applied to each file or folder.
File Multi Tool supports a wide variety of image formats and a more limited number of video formats, and not every action makes sense for every item. The supported column of the file list tells you, row by row, what the current action will do:
- a green check mark means the action can be performed on this file
- a red cross means the action is not supported for this type of file, for example writing a shooting date into a format whose metadata cannot be written
- a greyed-out cross means the action makes no sense for this item, for example a folder does not have a content creation date
Hover over the icon for the reason, such as “EXIF timestamp writing is currently not supported for this
file format.” Items with a cross are skipped when you click Perform Changes; the rest of the batch is
processed normally.
A file that is supported but cannot be changed because of its permissions or lock flag is reported as not writable instead.
