Getting Started
The Unlimited Renames Subscription
Better Rename is free to download; renaming requires the Unlimited Renames in-app subscription for 1, 3 or 12 months. How to subscribe, restore and cancel.
Better Rename is free to download from the Mac App Store, so you can try every action and preview the results on your own files, see the Quick Start. Renaming without limits requires the Unlimited Renames subscription, an in-app purchase that is available for 1, 3 or 12 months.
Without an active subscription, Better Rename does not rename any files: the preview, the presets and all the
actions work as usual, so you can set everything up and see the new names, but Perform Renames only changes the
files once you subscribe.
Subscribing
- Choose
Better Rename›Update Subscription… - Pick the 1, 3 or 12 month option and confirm the purchase with your Apple ID
The subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not to the Mac, so it covers every Mac you are signed in to with the same account.
Restoring a purchase
If Better Rename does not recognise your subscription, for instance on a new Mac or after reinstalling, choose
Better Rename › Restore Purchases…. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple ID you bought the
subscription with.
Managing or cancelling
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by Better Rename. Open the App Store application, click your name at the
bottom of the sidebar, choose Account Settings and then Manage next to Subscriptions. A cancelled subscription
stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Web store edition
The same program is also sold outside the App Store as A Better Finder Rename, with a one-time license instead of a subscription. The two are not interchangeable: a Better Rename subscription does not unlock A Better Finder Rename and a web store unlock code does not unlock Better Rename.
