Advanced and Special Actions

The Advanced & Special category holds the actions that do not fit elsewhere.

• Rename from file list takes the new names from a text file, see Rename from file list
• Replace regular expression and Re-arrange using regular expressions match patterns, see Regular expressions support, Replace regular expression and Re-arrange using regular expression
• Completely rename gives every file the same New Name:; conflict resolution then numbers them. It is meant for presets and droplets that always produce the same kind of name
• Filter keeps or excludes files from a multi-step rename, see Filter actions
• Advanced Options holds per-preset settings such as file pairing and conflict resolution, see The Advanced Options action

Example

Twenty scans of the same contract are named after the scanner’s counter and should all be called Contract with a number.

1. Choose Completely rename and enter Contract (with a space at the end) in New Name:
2. Choose View › Preview › Preview Conflict Resolution to see the numbers before renaming

Every file would be called Contract .pdf, so the conflict resolution inserts its numbers in front of the extension. With the 01, 02, 03, 04, … scheme selected in the Conflict Resolution tab of the Settings window, the files become Contract 01.pdf, Contract 02.pdf, … in the order set in that tab.
