Download Boring Old Menu Bar

There are two current builds. Which one you need depends on your macOS version, which you can find under the Apple menu, About This Mac. Both are the same app with the same 14-day trial, and one unlock code works for either.

Version 1.29 for macOS 27 Golden Gate

Apple silicon Macs only. Disk image. This build renders your wallpaper instead of screenshotting it, so it no longer asks for the Screen Recording permission.

Version 1.28 for macOS 13 Ventura to 26 Tahoe

Intel and Apple silicon Macs. Zip archive. This is the last release for these systems; it keeps working and keeps receiving its own automatic updates should any be needed.

Older versions

Version 1.27 for macOS 11 Big Sur and 12 Monterey. Intel and Apple silicon Macs, disk image, released in October 2022. It is no longer maintained, but it is signed and notarised and still installs normally.

After the trial

The trial stops working after 14 days. When you purchase the program, you receive an email with an unlock code that removes this limitation. The code works for both builds.
